THE WOMEN OF THE WNBA ON AND OFF THE COURT

Most of us recognize WNBA stars as gifted athletes who put in hard work to get better and compete hard during every game. However, being a basketball player is only part of their busy day-to-day lives.

Elena Delle Donne

When she’s not scoring 20+ points in basketball games, she’s working on her side business Deldon Design. This woodworking studio allows her to express her creative side and it provides people with impressive custom wood basketball hoops and wall art.

Lexie Brown

The WNBA players put a lot of emphasis on fitness and a healthy lifestyle. But while most of them do it out of necessity, the Chicago Sky’s guard Lexie Brown genuinely enjoys it. She’s known as a big gym enthusiast and it’s a safe bet she’s working out when not on the court.

Brown’s currently pursuing a license to become a personal trainer because she wants to share her fitness passion with others.

A’Ja Wilson

A’ja Wilson achieved almost everything there is to achieve in the basketball world despite only entering her fifth season as a pro. She was the first overall pick in 2018, has multiple All-Star appearances, and was named MVP in 2020, among other accolades.

Known as a fierce competitor on the court, most people are surprised to learn that Wilson has a soft side. She’s the founder of the A’ja Wilson Foundation, which helps kids who struggle with dyslexia.

MORE THAN 16 DETAILS OF DIANA AND CHARLES’ RELATIONSHIP THAT ARE COMING TO LIGHT

In the 21st century, we all know that royal life isn’t exactly a fairy tale. But in the 80s, before instant communications and social networks, everyone believed in the story of love. However, then, as today, reality was far from the saying “happily ever after.”

Although their marriage ended more than 20 years ago, it seems that the turbulent romance between Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and how it ended, has never been more relevant. Meghan Markle’s recent experiences aside, Netflix’s The Crown brought everything back to the forefront. The show, however, is not a documentary. This is the truth of what happened between Charles and Diana, and how it all went so wrong.

The beginning, with the light switches

It all started innocently, not only because Charles was dating his sister, but also because in 1977 he was 29 years old and Diana was still a teenager. The future king arrived at the 1,500-acre Althorp House for a weekend of hunting, and would later recall “how much fun” Diana was.

The beginning, with the light switches

Diana, for her part, was in love and told her piano teacher: “I finally met him!” She even gave Charles a tour of Althorp’s art gallery, because she knew where the light switches were and Sarah didn’t, leaving her older sister indignant at her. It was a memory that Charles would carry with him for years.

Charles wasn’t ‘very cool’

Despite their instant click and their large age difference, Charles and Diana would not actually see each other for three years after that fateful tour. The next time they did it was in 1980. The timing was not perfect: Charles’s great-uncle and confidant, Lord Mountbatten, had just been murdered by Irish extremists.

Charles wasn't 'very cool'

Diana saw the funeral and felt very sorry, so she tried to offer comfort to the Prince, with some kind and sincere words. Charles allegedly responded by “jumping on her,” as Diana herself recalled. She had never had a boyfriend before, but she remembers thinking, “This isn’t very good.”

A strange courtship

Unfashionable or not, this is where the couple’s relationship really began to take off. A brief but intense period of courtship followed, but it seems Charles wasn’t exactly a professional. When Diana took public speaking lessons from her voice coach, Peter Settelen, he recorded her talking about her private life.

A strange courtship

The full tapes have never been released, but excerpts show how the future Princess of Wales assessed Charles’ courtship skills. There were periods when he called her every day, she claimed, and others when they didn’t speak for three weeks. He was strange, but I enjoyed each and every phone call.

“Whatever ‘in love’ means.”

When Prince Charles, the future king, announced his engagement to Diana Spencer in 1981, not only the country but the entire world rejoiced. Diana, who was still 19 at the time, seemed to be a breath of fresh air in the boring Royal Family. Everyone looked at her and saw her as his future queen consort. All except, possibly, Charles himself.

“Whatever 'in love' means.”

During the interview in which they announced their engagement, the reporter asked them if they were in love. “Of course,” Diana replied instantly. “Whatever ‘in love’ means,” Charles added with a chuckle. Awkward gaffe? Possibly, but it would be a sign of things to come.

WHERE ARE THE LADIES OF SAVED BY THE BELL TODAY?

If you grew up in the ‘90s, or you like watching old TV shows, chances are that you know the words to the Saved by the Bell theme song by heart. Teens had the chance to watch his popular sitcom from 1989 to 1993 and keep up with the Bayside gang every Saturday morning.

For many teens, Saved by the Bell was the ultimate way to start their weekend off right. Before this sitcom, Saturday mornings were usually reserved for cartoons. However, Saved by the Bell, originally named Good Morning Miss Bliss, paved the way for future teen TV shows such as Dawson’s Creek, Beverly Hills, 90210, and The O.C.. It was the first show for teenagers ever that dealt with topics such as illegal substance abuse, peer pressure, as well as anxiety. But, the show also had its fair share of cheesy ‘90s moments, colorful clothing of the age, and some remarkably funny scenes.

If you ever get nostalgic and want to remind yourself of the past, just watch one episode of Saved by the Bell. The cast portrayed everything we love about the ’90s: the fashion, the lifestyle, the music, the hair, the colors… In addition, the talented young actors rose to fame after becoming the students of Bayside High.

Although the boys of Saved by the Bell are absolutely incredible, the show would have never been the same without the girls. The young ladies portrayed strong, smart, athletic and talented women during a time when beautiful women were admired only for their looks.

Time to see what the lovely girls of Saved by the Bell are up to today >>>

Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) Then

Lisa had the reputation of a trendy, outgoing, popular, and beautiful fashion expert in the group. She was also known as the number one gossip queen of Bayside High. She comes from a wealthy family, and both of her parents are surgeons. Lisa is also known as the one who Screech has a massive, unrequited, crush on during the series. Sadly for poor Screech, the feelings never become mutual, although the two do remain good friends. Lisa thinks of herself as some sort of a guidance counselor and you can often see her offering her words of wisdom and advice to her friends, especially when it comes to fashion and romance.

After Lark said goodbye to the series, she ended up playing Wendy Reardon in the soap opera Days of Our Lives. She also played Jasmine Malone in another popular soap, The Bold and the Beautiful. However, nowadays it seems like she has retired from acting completely. Her last role was in 2012, when she played a character named Hanna in a low-budget drama called Closer to God: Jessica’s Journey. She made headlines that same year, after her mother told the People Magazine that Lark was struggling with bipolar disorder. When it comes to her private life, Lark has been married three times, each ending in divorce.

Leanna Creel (Tori Scott) Then

Leanna played the new girl at Bayside High who made her first appearance in the 4th and final season of the series. She is a tough girl who loves wearing a leather jacket and riding a motorcycle to school. She becomes Zack Morris’s enemy after she parks her ride in Zack’s usual spot. However, later on they start dating for a brief period of time.

After Leanna left the show, she appeared in a few minor TV shows. Then, in 2000 she was cast in a movie called The Cell, and she acted along with Jennifer Lopez. However, it seems that the role of the Mother she played in this movie was her last one. Since then, she hasn’t appeared in any movies or TV shows. Leanna is now 47-years-old and has been happily married to Rinat Greenberg since 2008. The couple have two children.

Bridgette Wilson-Sampras (Ginger) Then

Ginger is the incredibly sweet, but slightly ditzy blonde girl, who sometimes tends to be a bit too happy. Her relationship with Zack was quite short due to the fact that the two had nothing to talk about except whether Ginger had lipstick on her teeth or not only thing she ever wanted to talk about with Zack was whether or not she had lipstick on her teeth. Well… at least she is pretty.

MARVEL WOMEN – WHAT THEY’RE LIKE IN MOVIES VS. REAL LIFE

What is the Marvel universe without its women? We’re not quite sure what kind of universe it is, but it certainly ain’t one we have any interest in being a part of. This is because they are so crucial – and so formidable – and so beautiful, all at the same time when they do their business that it is truly quite impossible to imagine a Marvel universe with the presence of the women.

We have seen countless awesome super-heroines take charge on the battlefield, from the Black Widow to The Invisible Woman, and every time there is a stellar actress in the driver seat of these character’s core personas. We recognize the characters, but who are the women behind the masks?

Here are 29 Marvel women superheroes – some of whom you know and love, and some of whom may not know. In addition to their on screen personas, sit back as we pull down the curtain and show you what their real life counterparts are up to.

Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman

Who here knows about the Fantastic Four? Well it doesn’t matter either way, because we only want to talk about one of them. And it’s not Johnny Storm, nor is it “The Thing”.

It’s Sue Storm, or The Invisible Woman, played by Kate Mara in the movie adaptation of the Marvel Comic. While the the only female of the team, Storm is by no means the weakest. In addition to her ability to render herself invisible at will, she also has the power to emanate strong force fields of energy.

Kate Mara in real life

Kate is a young rising star in Hollywood, appearing on screen in places such as TV hit drama series House of Cards, as well as biographical thriller film 127 Hours.

She also starred alongside Matt Damon in the thriller film The Martian. As far as her dating life goes, she was actually just recently married to Jamie Bell, her co-star on Fantastic Four who acts as “The Thing”. Mara lives in Los Angeles, and is also a vegan.

Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde

Ellen Page plays the role of Kitty Pryde in the X-Men films. She first makes an appearance in X3: The Last Stand, and once again in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Her powers include the ability to run through walls, floors, and ceilings, and she utilizes these abilities to great effect. In The Last Stand, they are in the midst of a fight against the rebel mutants led by Magneto, and she becomes a big part of the X-Men team, guided by Professor X and led by Wolverine.

Ellen Page in real life

If you were into watching movies around the year of 2007, there is a good chance you knew who Ellen Page was before you saw her on X-Men. That’s because she starred in the hit indie film, Juno, about a young girl in high school who becomes pregnant.

She has also appeared on screen elsewhere, such as in the drama The Tracey Fragments, which won her the award for Vancouver Film Critics Best Actress. She also played a big role in the hit sci-fi thriller Inception.

Anna Paquin as Rogue

Like Kitty Pryde, Rogue is also a young mutant who is part of Professor Xavier’s school for mutants, and later joins the X-Men squad in their battle against the rebels in X3: The Last Stand.

But that is not the only thing they have in common – they each have a subsequent fling with Bobby the Iceman, a fellow student at the school. Rogue’s relationship with him is strained, due to her superpower – her involuntary ability to suck various types of energy out of anything she touches.

Anna Paquin in real life

Hailing from New Zealand, Anna Paquin has made her rounds in many Hollywood sets. If you don’t know her as Rogue from X-Men, there is a good chance you know her as a “band-aid” in the hit film Almost Famous, directed by Cameron Crowe.

Or perhaps you’re more of “show about vampires” kind of person, in which case you perhaps know Paquin from the hit TV series True Blood. Wherever you’ve seen her on screen, you have without a doubt been taken in by her tender, yet subtly tenacious disposition.

Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch

There are many dynamic characters in the Marvel universe, and some are more prominent than others. One particular character who recently emerged onto the superhero scene is Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch.

She is a sorceress, and her powers include the ability to alter the perception of reality for others. She first appeared on screen in Captain America: Winter Soldier, and would later appear again in Avengers: Age of Ultron. This makes sense, considering she is an Avenger as well.

Elizabeth Olsen in real life

When Olsen isn’t altering the perception of our reality in the Marvel universe, she is doing it in reality as well, by making us think we actually have a chance with her (But hey, some of us can still dream).

Olsen’s breakout film was in the indie drama thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene, where she received nominations for various awards. Before she made it big in Hollywood, she attended New York University’s Tisch School of Arts.

THE WOMEN OF DC COMICS: FICTION AND REAL LIFE

Gal Gadot in real life

Before she became an actress, Gadot won the 2004 Miss Israel beauty pageant and competed in the Miss Universe 2004 competition. While most of the actors start their career with smaller roles, Gal Gadot decided to make her entrance in Hollywood with a bang starring as Gisele Yashar in Fast & Furious, the fourth installment in The Fast and the Furious franchise. She continued to portray Gisele in subsequent sequels while also landing the role of Wonder Woman and achieved quick and great success in Hollywood. Gadot has been married since 2008 to Israeli real estate developer Yaron Varsano with whom she has two daughters.

Laura Vandervoort as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl

Melissa Benoist is now the face we identify the most with Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, due to fact that she portrays the character in The CW’s series of the same name. But before Benoist, it was the beautiful Laura Vandervoort who was known as Supergirl. Vandervoort played the character in Smallville, in which Supergirl was introduced in the show’s seventh season.

Laura Vandervoort in real life

Besides Smallville, Laura Vandervoort starred in numerous television projects, including GoosebumpsInstant Star, and Bitten. The interesting thing about Laura is that she also starred in Supergirl, playing the role of villain Indigo/Brainiac 8.

Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot will be Wonder Woman of our time, that’s for sure. Still, we shouldn’t forget the great job Lynda Carter did with the portrayal of this character. Carter starred as the character in ABC’s television show Wonder Woman from 1975, which was picked up by CBS after season one and retitled as The New Adventures of Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter’s portrayal of Wonder Woman was so iconic, that she influenced the way the character has been portrayed in the later DC Comics adaptations.

Lynda Carter in Real Life

While the role of Wonder Woman is the trademark of her career, Lynda Carter also had several other notable projects, including Partners in Crime and Hawkeye. Most recently she starred in another DC Comics project, The CW’s Supergirl. Carter is a strong advocate for equal rights for the LGBTQ community.

Japan Airlines Go Viral After its Crew Recreates the Opening Theme of “Jujutsu Kaisen”

It is not often that an airline becomes viral for a positive reason. However, Japan Airlines managed to do just that after its crew recreated the opening theme for season two of the hit anime Jujutsu Kaisen.

In a video shared on TikTok, the Japan Airlines crew can be seen doing their best impressions of Jujutsu Kaisen characters while performing in dramatic shots to the sounds of “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu.

The clip quickly spread across social media and received more than 12 million views since being posted in February.

The great job done by the Japan Airlines crew is even more evident when you compare it to the original.
